NAINSUKH'S FALCON PAINTINGS HAD A DISTINCT MUGHAL INFLUENCE

Jaipur 29 January: Nainsukh’s early paintings had a distinct Mughal influence as can be seen in his series of Falcon paintings. This series of paintings form the early part of the renowned pahari painters work said John Seyller, Professor of Art History at the University of Vermont in the USA. He was giving a visual-lecture today at the City Palace under the aegis of Gunijankhana (Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh Jaipur Museum Society). The event was attended by art lovers, architects and painters.

Seyller further said that the falcon paintings are now understood to be among the earliest works in Nainsukh’s long career, and set the stage for his still greater absorption of Mughal effects in the 1740’s. The Director of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust, Mr. Yunus Khimani said that this is the first of the series of such lectures being organized by ‘Gunijankhana'.
